Do you have a child in your family that has played on sports teams? If you do you know the incredible commitment that it takes to be involved with the team, not only for the player but for the parents as well. There is the financial commitment, because most public schools no longer pay for equipment and there is also the time commitment. My son and daughter play different sports. They are two years apart in age so this means that most times they are on two different fields sometimes in different locations at the same time. This means we take two cars and one of us watches one event and the other stays at the other location. Most times the kids cannot cheer each other on because they are playing at two different areas. Many times the practices and games for the younger children are scheduled to take place in the late afternoons or early evening. For those of us that work we need to take off work to get there on time. It seems like schedules are still arranged for stay at home moms.

Even though it is inconvenient I am glad my children have asked to be involved in the different activities. They learn so much about sportsmanship as well as the different aspects of the sport that they are playing. We take many photographs of the kids in their uniforms and at the games, especially when so often only one of us is able to watch each of them. I wanted to find some nice sports picture frames to display the photos in. I thought it would be a great idea for the kids to watch how they are maturing to have photos of themselves in their room. I found sports picture frames at one department store that were nice; however the picture size was a bit small. As I was looking at the frames another customer mentioned to me that another store in the mall had a bigger selection of sports picture frames. When I went to that store I found several great frames. I bought sports picture frames that had baseballs and footballs on them for my son and I found others with soccer and gymnastics for my daughter. They both are involved in karate and I found matching frames for this that I thought I would display in the living room. As a family we ski, I found a great frame with skis around the frame that I bought in hopes that we can get a family picture on the slopes this year. The photos and frames will be a nice keepsake for the children to have as they age. I am glad that they are keeping busy and keeping fit by being in sports.

Should You Get a Sport Utility Vehicle?

Now that gas prices are high, and most think they will stay that way, people are more concerned about what they drive. This is because some vehicles are very bad in regards to gas mileage. When money is an issue, as it is with most Americans, paying high gas prices can mean giving up other things. When looking to save money, cars are better on gas they the sport utility vehicle, but that does not stop some from owning them. This is a personal choice, and some think that the lower gas mileage is worth what they love about the SUV.

There are many reasons why some love the sport utility vehicle. I have driven them from time to time, though I do not own one. I understand why some love them so much. They are fun to drive, and they are also great when you are on the highway. The gas mileage does vary though, and I’m not sure that I could afford to drive one for very long. However, if gas were not an issue, I would think that the next vehicle that I would own would be a sport utility vehicle.

Another great thing about the sport utility vehicle is that they give you more room than almost any type of car can. That means you can do more and take more with you, and you don’t have to worry about moving smaller things. When you only have a car, even having two children and going on the road can be just too tight of a squeeze. When you drive sport utility vehicles, this is rarely a problem. The kids have more room to move and stretch out, and you have more storage space in the back for whatever it is that you want to take with you.

If you don’t mind the gas prices, there is no reason why you should not get a sport utility vehicle if that is what you want. What you should know is that there are many different ones out there, much like cars, and that means you have to take your time to look around. Drive quite a few in different sizes and made by different manufacturers to be sure you get the one that works best for you. You have to feel comfortable behind the well of any vehicle. The better you feel, the safer you and your family will be.

I live with my good friend Joe. In most ways, we get along very well. In fact, we are almost ideal roommate except for one thing – his obsession with sports news. I can understand why he wants to hear about college football sports news from time to time. We are both enrolled in the University of Michigan, you see, and college sports are very important here. Still, does he need to hear the news sports every single evening? Would he die without it?

It has gotten so bad that I can't watch the evening news because he is busy watching Fox sports news instead. He knows that it is not a real news Channel – he has told me so many times. For him, however, finding out the sports news trumps all. He needs to know what his favorite teams have done and what the pundits have to say about it. In general, he is a pretty educated guy, and he seems to find a way to keep up with the current events despite the fact that he gets all of his news from the television. Nonetheless, it is irritating the way that sports news dominates our living room.

The whole town feels like that. If you go down the street and try to talk politics with a stranger, they will probably give you a sideways look. But if you want to talk about college sports team news with them, they will be all for it. Everyone – even people who don't watch sports – knows the sports news for the day. Whether you are going to frat parties or co-op parties, you hear people talking about new sports more often than you hear them talking about corruption in the president's office.

As if sports news wasn't enough, we have the stadium only half a mile away. That might not seem to be very close for anyone who has not lived in Ann Arbor, but believe me it is. Who needs sports news when you can hear the announcer's voice blaring all over the entire city with every game. Every touchdown, every play, every promotion – blasted right to our ears. Having to put up with that in the afternoon and the sports news in the evening is just too much some days. On game days, I stay out as late as I can. I don't want to get anywhere near that house or that stadium.

Finding The Right Types Of Sports

When I was a kid, I thought that I hated all sports. The only types of sports that I was exposed to, after all, were team sports. I was a pretty coordinated kid, but I wasn't a very good team player. I didn't have an easy time paying attention to the instructions of the coach, and I wanted to do everything on my own. I didn't really care whether our team won or lost. If I had been competing on my own, I think I might have liked it better. Nevertheless, I assumed that sports just weren't for me until I reached the age of 20.

That is when one of my friends turned me on to some other types of sports. He was involved in all types of adventure sports. He loved rock climbing, off-road biking, and many other activities that I had never even contemplated before. I had never really thought about these as sports before, but the seriousness with which he took his activities made me realize that that was precisely what they were. They were competitive sports, and he excelled in them. He was not a professional, of course, but he was an athlete nonetheless.

I went out on excursions with them to try all types of adventure sports. We would hike for miles a day, climb up steep walls, dive into waterfalls, and in general enjoy ourselves in the great outdoors. At first, I was terrible at it. I had always been in very bad shape owing to the fact that I was not interested in any of the types of sports that I had been exposed to in school.

Once I was able to enjoy sporting activity where I was only competing against myself, however, I soon got good at what I was doing. I worked out like a demon, and was sporting a six pac stomach and incredibly muscled arms by the end of the year. At the age of 23, I felt better than I ever had before, and I was only getting stronger. Nowadays, I enjoy mountain biking as my main type of sport. Any kind of outdoor recreation, however, holds my interest. I hope that this article can serve as a lesson for kids who think that they don't like sports at all. Maybe you just haven't been exposed to the right sport for you yet! Try doing something that seems adventurous, and you might be surprised by what you find.

Forms Of Martial Arts

With all of the different martial arts styles out there, it can be hard to chose which form to study. People spend hours and hours talking about the different forms of martial arts and their advantages and disadvantages, but all that talk can be pretty nonconstructive. The most important thing that you can do is to find a style that works for you and study it.

There are a lot of different ways of looking at the martial arts forms. Some people like dividing them into internal and external styles, while other people talk about grappling versus striking styles. Basically, it depends what you want to get out of your martial arts studies. Although internal arts will eventually teach you how to fight very well, if you want quick results you should take a more external style to start with. If, on the other hand, you want a more meditative style that will help you learn how to relax, internal forms of martial arts are probably the best place for you to start.

In terms of grappling versus striking arts, the distinction only really matters if you are into external arts. Arts like Kung Fu, Karate, and kick-boxing are all about striking your opponent as hard as possible and using that power to stop him. On the other hand, grappling forms of martial arts like Judo, Aikido, and Jiu Jitsu are more geared towards pinning your opponent or getting him in some kind of hold to disable him. Nowadays, however, more and more forms of martial arts integrate both aspects. Both striking and grappling have their advantages, so knowing how to combine techniques will really make you a more effective fighter in the real world.

Of course, it is important to not get too caught up in all of the discussions about forms of martial arts. No matter what you study, you will learn effective self-defense. Unless you are a serious competition fighter, you don't have to worry about being the most deadly person out there – just knowing how to defend yourself is enough to dissuade most would-be attackers. The best way to choose a form of martial arts is simply to try out a couple gyms. Most dojos will let you take a single class or two for free, so you can get an idea of what they are about before committing to study their courses.

Exploring Art Museums With Children

There are many things that children are interested in when they are young, but art may not be one of them. They may love to make their own art, but they may not know how to appreciate the art that others have produced. That is why many don’t think to take their children to art museums, but that can be a mistake. There is a lot that children can take away from such a visit, and many different types of museums that they will love. You may find just what you need very close to home, or you can travel as a family to find something truly amazing.

My daughter likes art museums, and this is something that she first got when we took her to the Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, NY. This is not your typical ‘paintings on the wall’ type of art museum, but rather, art made with glass almost exclusively. You would be surprised to see what can be done with glass. There are modern pieces, and there are some that date back centuries. Because there was a lot of interactive things to do, and many colorful exhibits, she was right into the experience and wants to visit more art museums.

No matter what type of art museums you choose, you can make sure that your children come away with something by engaging them at their level. Ask them what they think a painting is or what it means, and ask them to tell you what their favorite thing about each artwork might be. You can find art museums that are geared towards children, and they are always a good choice, but kids can enjoy all types of art when they are included in the process of choosing and viewing the art in question.

When your child comes home telling you that they are going to art museums for field trips, do all you can to act excited, and ask them a lot of questions when they get back. Art is essential for learning skills, and the more they love art the better they are going to do in school. When the children sense your excitement over art museums, they are going to take on some of that energy and enthusiasm into themselves. They may even decide to give some types of art a try, and that may lead them to discovering a talent or a hobby that will stay with them for life.

Martial Arts Pressure Points

There is no area of the fighting arts that is more misunderstood or mythologized than martial arts pressure points. There are many people who claim that they know a certain kind of death touch. These martial arts masters believe that they can cause someone to die simply by tapping a point lightly. Often they believe that this point will disrupt the flow of chi or ki, causing the opponent to quickly die or to slowly suffer and linger on for days.

In reality, there is nothing that mysterious about pressure points in martial arts. Some debates still continue about what precisely can be done with martial arts pressure points, but almost every agrees that they exist. There are, of course, submission points that can be used to fight with someone. For example, you can grab someone's knuckle and twist it just right so that, without breaking it, you still have completely neutralized them. They will be in too much pain to move. Martial arts pressure points are a little bit more tricky than this, however. They are spots in the body – usually connected to nerve plexuses, arteries and veins – which can disrupt blood flow or nerve signals, or cause enough pain to disable an opponent.

There are some so-called pressure point martial arts that almost completely revolve around these points. The people who practice these arts train at striking them precisely so that they can hit their opponent hard in just the right place. Martial arts pressure points are nothing to mess around with. Someone who doesn't know what they're doing can seriously injure or even kill an opponent by striking too hard or incorrectly. The purpose of the martial arts pressure point is not to kill or even wound, but to disable without injuring. You need to know what you're doing to be able to achieve this effect.

Whether or not death touch martial arts pressure points exist is subject to considerable debate. The problem is that you can't very well publicly demonstrate your ability to kill someone with a single touch. Some of the demonstrations come pretty close, however. I have seen several videos with martial arts masters striking an opponent and causing him to fall to the ground almost instantly with what looks like a very light touch. At the very least, it was impressive and a little bit scary. I certainly wouldn't want to go up against someone who knew how to do that!

The Ultimate Fighting Championship

Of all of the mixed martial arts tournaments that have arisen in the past few years, the ultimate fighting championship is perhaps the most well-known. Ultimate fighting is not exactly new thing, but it is a new incarnation of a type of competition that has gone on for centuries. Unlike competitions within martial arts schools, a mixed martial art competition is all about getting the advantage over the opponent whatever the cost. Although there are rules, they are few. The competition is designed to let people use whatever techniques their arts involve in order to be the most effective fighter possible.

Some ultimate fighters have trained in the more traditional martial arts, but many have them have also had quite a bit of experience street fighting as well. You see, no holds barred fighting differs a lot from many of the traditional martial arts. It doesn't stress things like honor or even conventional forms. The point, basically, is to overcome your opponent by whatever means necessary. This can involve kicks, locks, head butts, and any other techniques that come in handy. The key is to win above all else.

Although ultimate fighting is the most popular mixed martial arts sport, there are many other ones in many different countries with slightly different rules. The problem with fighting competitions is the fewer rules there are, the more dangerous the event is for competitors. No one wants a broken rib or dislocated shoulder when they can avoid it, but these are some of the injuries that ultimate fighting competitors risk with every fight.

Nonetheless, the brutality of ultimate fighting is a big part of what attracts both spectators and competitors to the sport. The spectators want to see the best spectacle possible – all out, no holds barred fighting. With the competitors, the competition is more about a chance to perfect their art. They want to be the strongest, most powerful, and most respected fighters in the world. Ultimate fighting gives them the chance to really prove that they are. Rather than just gaining acclaim within a particular martial arts school, they can gain fame as fighters able to overcome all takers. For these tremendous athletes, this is the ultimate goal: to be the very best in the world. Nothing else even comes close to the thrill of achieving that dream. The money is good, the fame is good, but the competition is the big thing.

Types Of Martial Arts

When I was a kid, I used to be a huge fan of the martial arts. Although my parents are pacifists and would not let me take karate with my friends, I used to dream of one day being some kind of samurai assassin. I knew all about the different types of martial arts, and would often debate which one was the best with my friends. We would have endless discussions about subjects we did not really understand, and often get into arguments that in retrospect seem pretty silly.

Nowadays, I realize that it isn't about what type of martial art is stronger so much as what appeals to you the most. You see, there are many different types of martial arts, but their strengths and weaknesses lie more in how the style is applied more than in the style itself. A good fighter in one art system can always beat a mediocre fighter in another one, no matter which type of martial art is better.

Nevertheless, understanding the different types of martial arts can help you find something that appeals to you. Very aggressive straightforward sorts of people tend to prefer a martial art like karate, tae kwon do, or kung fu. These are generally primarily striking types of martial arts, focusing on exerting the maximum force possible to cause your opponent as much harm as you can. Although they will eventually allow you to develop subtlety and evasive capabilities, their main strengths are physical conditioning, stopping power, and overall aggressiveness.

Grappling types of martial arts, on the other hand, focused on restraining your opponents or making it impossible for them to strike you. Aikido is the most defensive of these arts, but it is extremely powerful. In aikido you learn to harmonize with your opponents motion, deflecting attacks by using his own aggression against him. Judo is also this type of martial art, but focuses more on grappling and pinning than on throws.

There are also types of martial arts that combine both striking and grappling. One of the most famous examples of this kind of martial art is jujitsu. In this well known art you learn to pin your opponent, disable him with joint locks, and punch and kick the heck out of him. It is a particularly brutal art, and one often favored by professional fighters. Nonetheless, it can also be a handy defensive art. It can be used to disable much stronger opponent by using principles of leverage.

Japanese Martial Arts

the history of Japanese martial arts, like the history of any martial art, is long and complicated and shrouded in mystery. The problem is that martial artists tend to embroidered their art forms with myths. Many of these martial arts are hundreds or thousands of years old anyway, so the legends grow year after year. Someone who is a great champion in his lifetime becomes endowed with superpowers and the ability to see the future by the time a couple hundred years have passed. Given another thousand years, and he is seen as the originator of all martial arts.

Nevertheless, one thing cannot be debated: Japanese martial arts are all around cool. The most classic Japanese martial art is karate. There are different forms of Japanese karate, so just because you have seen one form in action doesn't mean you will recognize another. Nonetheless, all of them share certain characteristics. Japanese karate is extremely offensive martial art characterized by vigorous strikes and kicks. It is pretty practical and no-nonsense – particularly compared with kung fu and some of the other Chinese martial arts. That doesn't mean that it is a better art, just that it has a more stripped-down style.

Of course, there are plenty of other Japanese martial arts. Judo is a popular Japanese martial art used mainly for sport fighting. Although it has a number of practical techniques that would be useful in any street fight, it is specifically adapted for sporting competition. It is a great martial art to practice because you can vigorously combat each other without hurting each other. It mostly consists of holds, throws, and chokes which can be applied without causing any permanent damage.

In my opinion, aikido is one of the most interesting Japanese martial arts. Like many other Japanese arts, aikido uses martial arts weapons. Unlike many other arts, however, it is purely defensive. It is based on harmonizing with an opponent's energy and using it to neutralize him or her. You may think that this sounds wimpy, but you are wrong. It is actually one of the most powerful fighting arts out there. Through the use of a superior understanding of leverage, trained Masters in aikido can neutralize much stronger opponents. Although they do not spar as part of their martial arts training, they do use quite a bit of partner practice that allows them to refine their techniques and master them.

Popular Brazilian Martial Arts

The world of martial arts has grown significantly over the years. Especially over the past fifteen years. Back in 1993, the world was introduced to the wonders of the Brazilian martial arts. Primarily the art known as Gracie Ju Jitsu. This style has literally revolutionized the game of empty hand combat. Suddenly martial artists of reputable styles such as Karate, Tae Kwon Do and Muay Thai were challenged with opponents that were taking them to the ground. Unfortunately these well-known martial arts fail to incorporate a significant ground game. In other words, countless fighters had no idea how to react when this innovative style known as Gracie Ju Jitsu arrived.

MMA or mixed martial arts is one of the primary events where you'll witness Brazilian martial arts such as Gracie Ju Jitsu. In fact, Joyce Gracie dominated the UFC scene for the first few years. This started back in 1993 and a lot of fighters simply did not know how to defend against his Brazilian martial arts style. With arts like Gracie Ju Jitsu there is a focus on ground fighting. This is due to the fact that the founder of this style felt that most fights end up on the ground; therefore it's wise to practice and study techniques that work well on the ground. Brazilian martial arts like Gracie Ju Jitsu incorporate techniques such as one and two-legged takedowns, guillotine chokes, arm bars, rear naked chokes, leg locks, ankle locks and various other submissions.

While Brazilian martial arts are certainly a major aspect of today's empty-hand fighting game, it's imperative to remember that no one style is the be-all end-all to martial arts. Hence the popularity of MMA (mixed martial arts). Combining great ground styles like Gracie Ju Jitsu with quality stand-up styles like Muay Thai is ideal. This has been proven time and time again in the octagon. If you're curious and wish to learn more about excellent Brazilian martial arts like Gracie Ju Jitsu, be sure to visit their official Gracie website for further details. You may be able to train under one of the Gracies themselves, depending upon where you live.

Ancient Chinese Martial Arts Benefit the Body and Soul

At some point or another during your lifetime, there's a good chance you'll gain an interest in some type of self-defense. Maybe it will be one of the countless ancient Chinese martial arts or maybe something more common such as Korean tae kwon do or Japanese karate. Regardless of what martial arts style you choose, it's imperative to know a little bit about where it came from and what it was originally used for. Not all Chinese martial arts styles are the same and some are even more advanced and practical in ways. At least when it comes to modern self defense.

For those who're not very familiar with the vast array of ancient Chinese martial arts, let me give you a quick rundown of a few. Some of the more popular styles are tai chi chuan, which is considered a soft art that's focused more on heath, healing and control, than it is empty-hand combat. Then there is a Chinese martial arts style known as Shaolin Long Fist kung fu. This style is the epitome of what many Americans think ancient Chinese martial arts are all about. This style incorporates use of the entire body and utilizes a variety of high kicking, low kicking, punching, spinning, jumping, elbow strike, knee attack and open palm techniques. If you seek self-defense and a great workout, this is likely a Chinese martial art that's perfect for you. Also, there is an ancient Chinese martial arts form known as Wing Chun. Actually this fighting style is much younger than most Chinese martial arts; however, it does hold great popularity around the world. Wing Chun is a style that's focused more on practical self-defense techniques. It involves very rapid strikes and counter attacks, in addition to the principal that less is more. Many women enjoy this Chinese martial art because it does not focus on mere brute force/strength.

While the world of ancient Chinese martial arts can get a tad confusing, the key is to narrow down the various styles by establishing what you need it for. For example, if you want to begin practicing a Chinese style of self-defense simply for self-preservation purposed, then styles like Wing Chun and Tsing-Yi are ideal. Just be sure to acquire the assistance of a well-recommended sifu (teacher) before investing in a class.

Ice hockey is a very challenging sport that takes a lot of balance, strength and talent. There are many obstacles that players face on a regular basis even when it comes to their gear. Wearing hockey skates can prove to be uncomfortable but there are ways to ensure that you will feel great on the ice.

Comfort is all-important when it comes to playing sports well. This holds true no matter what sport you are playing. Your gear has to fit correctly and it has to allow you to move to your greatest capacity. Hockey skates can make all the difference in your game.

The first thing you want to do is find the right fit for your foot. Once you find your ideal size, you can begin to narrow down your search for the perfect pair of hockey skates. The right fit means doing a little homework.

Some suggest that you purchase hockey shoes that are one size smaller than your normal everyday shoes. This may come as a surprise to many considering that many of us by shoes that give us room to grow. Also, hockey skates are typically worn with thick, heavy socks so you may want to try on a pair at a store before jumping online to order.

Too much room in your hockey skates will usually lead to blisters. These uncomfortable little wounds will have a profound impact on your ability to play well. Shoes that are too small can make your toes curl under causing a lot of pain. The curling toes can also lead to painful injuries that will definitely affect how you play.

We see a lot of tape and extra long laces on hockey skates when players are getting ready. While these can really help in most cases, try not to overdo it. The tape and laces around the top of the hockey skates can restrict movement, causing pain and discomfort which will not only affect your play; it also may affect your everyday life as well.

When you try on your hockey skates you really want to pay attention to how your feet feel. Younger player who are expecting to grow can try a test. Kids can tap their feet all the way up to the very front of the skates. If the child’s parents can put both of his fingers behind the child’s ankle down to the heel when the foot is pressed in then the skates are too big.

Personalized Playing Cards Serve Many Uses

When I started my own business, a dog sitting service, it seemed that I was constantly on the lookout for a way to market my company to the general public. I wanted something that would catch people's eyes, make them remember my name, and perhaps give them a giggle at the same time. I definitely found what I was looking for in personalized playing cards.

These decks sport a picture, or in some cases a company logo, on the back of each card. The decks are regulation sized and made to last through many card games. Couple that with the fact that they are fun to look at, and you've got an item that is guaranteed to be used and enjoyed over and over again. The high quality of the printing and the decks themselves also make them nice keepsakes to commemorate special events.

I began my hunt for this item in local malls and specialty stores, but I really couldn't find what I was looking for. I even got puzzled looks at print shops when I tried to explain my request. So I just checked for personalized playing cards online, and was able to find a huge selection of relevant products with plenty of deals to take advantage of. Many of the websites had customization wizards that helped me upload the artwork I wanted, and some places were more than happy to handle the small quantities that I wanted.

At first, I considered simply printing my company logo on the backs of my personalized playing cards. However, I wanted to make sure that the items I invested my hard earned money on would be worth their weight in eye catching quality, and I wasn't sure my simple logo would cut it. Instead, I went for humor in a picture of a Bassett Hound's sad, droopy mug, with my company name and phone number on the bottom.

My clients love my new personalized playing cards, and I have picked up a few additional customers from my unusual ad campaign as well. This is the perfect item to pass out as a thank you to existing customers or to give to special prospects to get my name around -- much more fun than a business card and harder to lose!

While I was shopping for my personalized playing cards online, I also found that I could order these decks for special occasions like weddings, anniversaries, and birthdays. Download Free Computer Games for Hours of Fun

We have a houseful of gaming consoles that see plenty of use, but had overlooked the PC for our play time until recently. I realized that we were amassing a pile of console activities that cost a pretty penny but weren't playing them very much. The problem was that the kids couldn't tell for sure whether a game was going to be worth the investment until after money was exchanged and the game was brought home. Many of their choices just didn't end up holding their attention the way we hoped. That's when we discovered that we could download free computer games that would allow us lots of play time before we invested cash into a game for our library.

We tracked down many websites that let us download free computer games of all styles to enjoy as much as we wanted on our PC. Some of these offerings were full-length features so we could play through from beginning to end. Others were demos that would give us a good glimpse into the game of our choice so we could make purchases with more confidence that our choices would see plenty of use. Even the trials were packed with fun and offered hours of enjoyment with a variety of levels to test our skills.

I am partial to jigsaw puzzles and arcade fun, and I was able to download free computer games in both of these categories. My husband would catch me in the office late at night, putting together a puzzle or testing out a new version of Diner Dash. He couldn't razz me too badly though, since I found him up to his eyeballs in Dream Chronicles and Risk on more than one occasion. Now he didn't have to beg family members to sit down at the Risk board with him on a Friday night; he could simply sneak into the office and conquer countries to his heart's content!

My kids found that they could download free computer games that they enjoyed playing as well, because many of these choices were geared to kids of all ages. Bejeweled was a game that they all had such a blast figuring out that I had to give it a go myself one night after they were all in bed. While the younger set enjoyed these activities to the max, many of the choices were complex enough to challenge the older players too. We realized we could download free computer games that would keep everyone in our household busy and happy.

Free Online Adventure Games

Until a few years ago, I used to only play the really expensive, pay based adventures online. I was a big World of Warcraft fan, and I was willing to pay the subscription fee. I figure that free online adventure games probably weren't worth all that much. After all, if they were so good, why didn't people pay money for them? The very fact that so many people were willing to pay for the games I was playing seem to justify them.

Although I still play World of Warcraft online, I have actually discovered the virtues of free online adventure games. A lot of the free online RPG games that I have played are actually better than some of the paid ones. You see, when people design a free online adventure game they usually do it out of A love of games or a fanatical dedication to programming. Some of these games are a little bit rough around the edges and haven't had all the kinks worked out of them, but what they lack in seamless graphics, they make up for in exciting game play and intricate storytelling. Whether you're into online strategy games, fantasy battles, or role-playing games, there probably is a free adventure game for you.

Of course, if you're a good graphics fanatic, you might be disappointed by most, if not all, of the free online adventure games. Many of them are done in a simple, retro style that doesn't take up a lot of processing power. I have always actually liked this look. It somehow seems to distract less from the gameplay than really fancy graphics do. Don't get me wrong – sometimes I love beautiful pictures, but other times I would rather focus on the game and let my imagination fill in the gaps.

The only drawback with free online adventure games is that you usually have to put up with advertising. Some of them constantly have ads in the background, whereas with others you only have to put up with ads at certain key junctures. Usually, however, it isn't too bad. It only momentarily distract you from the game, and soon you learn to tune it out completely. When you don't have to pay for a game, usually you're willing to put up with a couple small inconveniences. As far as drawbacks go, it is definitely a minor one. And if it really bothers you that much, some free online adventure games allow you to pay a small fee to avoid ads.
