Teaching Human Sexuality

When it comes to sex, parents are often stumped as to what they should talk with their teenagers about, and what they can leave out. This type of talk is easy for some parents, but many have a very hard time talking about it. What parents should know is that the more teens know about human sexuality, the better they will understand why they have some of the feelings that they have, and what they should and should not do about them. Sometimes, just knowing what something means can take away some of the stress of growing up.

Teens that know little to nothing about human sexuality can become almost panicked when new feelings occur. They may think there is something wrong with them and that they are different from their peers. If they know why they are feelings as they do, and that it is something that everyone else goes through, they can then take what happens in stride. Think about a girl getting her period for the first time. If she knows what it is, she simply takes care of it. However, the girl that has no idea what is happening is going to have some major trauma, and may even think she is dying.

There is more to human sexuality than just the mechanics of what happens to the body as far as physical signs. There can be some shame involved with sexual feelings, especially when they are new. What parents say about this can determine how a teenager handles and feels about sex for the rest of their lives. If they are taught about sex, what sex means, and how to respect their bodies, they are going to make better decisions. Some will still make bad choices, but at least you gave them something to work with when deciding what to do about their feelings and human sexuality.

We are bombarded with sexual images all of the time. It would seem that the world revolves around sex, and that can be confusing to some teens. They may think that if they are not having sex, they are missing out. This is when human sexuality can be very confusing. Parents can’t decide for their children, but they can do all that can to help them learn what it is all about. There are some great books on human sexuality out there, and you may even be able to get some information on talking with your teens if you look around online. It’s never an easy talk to have, but it is one that you have to have.

You probably don't put a great deal of thought into the human physical make-up. It's no big deal. Most folks don't. We tend to leave it for the experts, who research it for a living. On the other hand, one day I became curious. I started taking this martial arts class and it got me thinking about the human skeleton bones and structure. The way we're designed is truly an amazing thing. Nothing man can do will ever compare to such complexity. And while we often consider the human body to be fragile in comparison to various other creatures, it's actually quite remarkable. There's not a lot we can't do with the assistance of our minds.

There are 206 bones in the human body. This is a factoid that everyone should be aware of. And while we're actually born with close to 100 more, many fuse together as we develop. But how strong are human skeleton bones? Well, according to my martial arts teacher, they're comparable to iron, but less rigid. This is amazing if you ask me. Check out some of the feats that humans accomplish with their bone strength and mind power. I had the pleasure of watching a martial arts breaking competition live a few years back. These self-defense experts were breaking everything from 2/4s, to coconuts, to stacks of cinder blocks. You have to admit that's pretty remarkable to say the least. Obviously there is plenty of conditioning and focus involved. You have to know you can in order to do it. This just goes to show the impact our minds have on our bodies. They're stronger in many ways. They allow us to achieve things some would think impossible.

Don't be afraid to investigate the human skeleton bones and intricate make-up of the human form. The more you understand about the human body, the more you can do with yours. This knowledge is not exclusive to doctors and scientists. It's now available to anyone with Internet service. You can learn all you want just by clicking a mouse. I still continue to soak up knowledge from my martial arts teacher regarding the capabilities of the human body. This topic never gets old to me. Knowledge IS power!

social anxiety disorder

There are some people who are at ease in any sort of social situation, and you can often spot them right off the bat. They are friendly and outgoing, and seem to know what to say to everyone they meet. There are others though, who will do anything they can to avoid any sort of situation where they have to meet people they don’t know, and they often miss things they want to do because of it. This is called social anxiety disorder. Though some of these cases are severely crippling, there are many who have mild cases.

Those with social anxiety disorder have many symptoms that tell them they are in a uncomfortable situation. They may begin to panic, and they may feel like they can’t breath. They might also sweat, and begin to look for ways to escape. They know rationally that nothing bad is going to happen, but their social anxiety disorder overrides all of those thoughts, and they simply cannot function. This even happens when they want to talk to someone, and that can be very disheartening to them.

If you have problems talking to strangers, you may just be shy. However, if it gets in the way of leading a normal life, you might want to consider you have some sort of social anxiety disorder. I remember wanting to talk to my favorite singer, who was kind and friendly, and standing in front of me. It took everything I had to walk over and talk to him. My fears were unfounded, and I had a great conversation with him, but that didn’t mean anything. I struggled with each step I took, and I almost left without speaking to him. Though I was able to overcome that, there are many in the same situation who simply cannot do it, and they flee.

If you suspect you have social anxiety disorder, you should know that you can find help. You should start out by writing down everything you are feeling, and what situations seem to trigger your symptoms. You should also write down what goes through your head when your social anxiety disorder kicks in. All of this information will be very helpful when someone attempts to help you overcome your fears. Seeking help is one of the best things you can do, even though taking the first step is by far the hardest. You might want to take someone you trust with you to your first appointment, and have them waiting in the waiting room for you. That way you won’t feel like you are in a totally alien environment.

Have you ever spent any time with a person that has chronic and persistent mental health issues? I use this phrasing chronic and persistent because those are the terms that are used by mental health professionals to categorize a person for ongoing mental health services beyond the scope that the average insurance policy will pay for. When the person is in the serious and persistent category they qualify for additional funding through the federal, state and local government to get services to help them.

Everyone goes through periods of mental health problems. There have been times when I ask myself I am suffering from depression. Symptoms of situational depression include feeling tired and listless, the inability to sleep because of racing thoughts, change in appetite, and lack of interest in doing activities that are usually enjoyed. When I have wondered am I suffering from depression I usually am experiencing two or more of these symptoms. My depression is often linked to my menstrual cycle along with an additional event that has occurred. I am usually able to deal with the symptoms through test, talking to mental health professionals and taking a low dosage of an anti-depressant for a short period of time. Doing these things help my symptoms go away and I resume my life. For many people that experience chronic depression it is not this simple.

Depression is caused by chemical imbalance in the brain. Antidepressants help to balance the chemicals of the brain. For people with occasional or situational depression this can be achieved in a fairly short period of time. The occurrence can happen once in a life time or several times, but the person most likely will not have to be on medication on a continuous basis. For a person that is continually asking themselves am I suffering from depression the treatments most likely will be on-going for their life time because the brain cannot balance the chemicals itself. On-going depression does not mean that a person cannot live a full and happy life. There are many reliable medications available on the market that have limited side effects. The key is to find the right medication at a therapeutic level for each individual. It is also important to take the medication consistently. Many people may start to feel better and so they stop the medication only to have the symptoms return. Consistently taking medication and taking care of yourself are the keys to effectively fighting depression. A big part of taking care of yourself includes eating nutritionally and talking with a mental health care professional on a regular basis.

There are many who say that well water tastes better than water that comes from city water, and I have to agree for the most part, but there are some dangers that come with drinking this type of water if a family is not careful. This is something that happened to may family, so I know if I ever have this type of water supply in my future, I will makes sure that it is tested as often as recommended so that no one can get sick. Though water from a natural source might seem safer than water that has been treated, there are times when this is just not true.

The well water we were drinking was not really our responsibility, but the landlord apparently didn’t pay any attention to it either. We only lived in the house for six months before we had to move out due to the water. We had been drinking it the whole time we lived there assuming it was safe, but it was far from it. My youngest brother was a toddler then, and we noticed after a while that something was not right. We had to take him to the hospital one day, and we found out that he was very sick.

Our well water was what was making him sick, and if we had not figured it out we would have all gotten sick, and we might have died. He recovered, thankfully, but we had to move out of the house. We tried to bring in water, but that was just not working for us. The landlord started drilling a new well almost immediately, but it was taking too long and my mom was so upset she didn’t want to stay there anyway. I can’t say that I blame her.

She had another problem with her well water, and it was not something that was quite as bad, but everyone in her house was getting ill. It turned out an animal had died in her water supply, and they had to have a new well drilled. This was on her own property, so they didn’t move, but suffered with bringing in outside water until it could be fixed. It wasn’t as serious that time, but those two incidents were enough to convince me that well water needs to be tested quite often to be sure it is safe. It usually tastes really good, but taste can be deceiving.
