Find a Lost Friend

We lose many things in our lives, but some of the hardest things are old friendships. There are a hundred reasons why we drift apart or lose each other, and each is valid in its own way. Many times, life happens and before we know it, someone we care about is gone from our reach. That is perhaps why there are so many people that log on to the Internet in hopes of finding a lost friend that used to mean a lot to them. Many find who they are looking for, but they are not always happy with what happens after that.

I chose to search for a lost friend who was my best friend through high school. I found her, right where she said she was going to be. She went into the Army, and was still there when I located her. She was not on active duty, but instead, enjoying the warm weather in Hawaii. I was so excited to find her, and she was excited to hear from me, but things took a strange twist. We found that too much time had passed and that we had nothing in common but our memories. Those memories are great, but they did not make for a good foundation for a friendship now that our lives are so different.

You won’t know how your reconnection will go until you try it though. Some friendships pick up where they left off and are better than ever. Finding a lost friend can be complicated, but if you know a lot about them you may not have a hard time. Look for them online by searching their name in search engines, social networking sites, professional networking sites, and though different web sites built for finding a lost friend, colleague, or anyone else for that matter. These can be very helpful.

You may have better luck finding a lost buddy if you had a lot of mutual friends. You can always ask them if they have any information on your friend or if they know how to reach them. You can look through your address book to see if you have an address for parents or other relatives that may also want to help you. Think about things like classmate reunion sites as well, and any other possible way that you could locate your lost friend. Who knows? They may be looking for you as well.
