College graduation is just a few months away for me, which means it's time to start thinking about what I'm going to do with my life. I already know that grad school isn't something I'd like to pursue in the immediate future, and since I'll have a bunch of student loans to pay off, it looks like I better try to find some work.

Some of my friends have been talking about working overseas for a couple of years, and are currently looking into job opportunities abroad. The more I hear them gush about being able to earn great money while seeing the world, the more I'm convinced that I should join them.

I decided to research job opportunities abroad on my own to see what kind of positions are currently available. There are tons of websites that list help wanted ads for countries all around the world, so I spent a lot of time checking those out. After sifting through seemingly hundreds of pages of information, I discovered that applying for job opportunities abroad is relatively easy -- especially since the entire process can be handled via e-mail and/or fax.

Many current job opportunities abroad revolve around teaching English to people who would like to learn a second language. These positions are open to college graduates, and are available throughout Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. There are also plenty of IT-related job opportunities abroad, as well as numerous openings for professionals such as doctors, lawyers, and researchers.

Getting a position teaching English would probably be the easiest way for me to go, so now I need to decide which country I'd like to live in and work in. Once I settle on a destination, I can then search for more targeted job opportunities abroad and start sending out my resume.

As an alternative, I could sign up with a recruiting company that specializes in placing people overseas. Although doing this would likely entail a fee of some sort, it would be a lot easier than having to manually sift through all the different help wanted ads on my own. Some international recruiting companies even assist with visa processing and accommodation, so these are additional points to keep in mind.

On the whole, I'm very excited about the abundance of job opportunities abroad. To me, it seems easier to land a position overseas than here at home, so I'm confident that I'll find something good. And now that I know what I want to do after graduation, I'm actually looking forward to the end of student life!

Chicago Field Museum

One of the most popular attractions in Chicago is the Chicago Field Museum, sometimes referred to as the Field Museum of Natural History. Its present location is in a purpose built building, finished in 1921, adjacent to Lake Michigan. This setting is also the site for the Adler Planetarium and the Shedd Aquarium.

The museum was placed on the US National Register of Historic Places in 1975. It is divided into four sections, namely Zoology, Anthropology, Botany and Geology. The Field Museum has an international reputation as an excellent exhibition space and as an institution that funds valuable field research across the world. There is an impressive 20 million specimens in the collection.

The most well known display is that of Sue, the largest and most complete Tyrannosaurus Rex skeleton fossil in the world. Sue, named after the paleontologist that found her (or him, no one is sure), helped to put the Chicago Field Museum on the map. It's an imposing presence, standing at 13 foot high and measuring 42 feet in length. Experts date Sue at 67 million years old. There is a large collection of dinosaurs and a diverse taxidermy display, including two African elephants.

There are outreach programs at the museum that have forged a good relationship with the local community. Parents and teachers are allowed to borrow certain items for educational purposes and there is an extensive museum library. The Field Museum has even made it to the big screen on two occasions. It was used as a location for the film, The Relic in 1997 and for Damien: Omen II in 1978.

Other exhibits include Native American artifacts, including totem poles and traditional garments. There is also Mammals of Asia and Mammals of Africa. The Inside Ancient Egypt exhibit contains mummified animals and 23 human mummies. There are also displays that explore human and natural history in China, Tibet and the Pacific Islands. It's not all skeletons, stuffed animals and fossils. Insects: 105 Years of Collecting has one of the largest collections of its kind in the world. The Chicago Field Museum has a beautiful display of diamonds and precious stones in The Grainger Hall of Gems, brought from various parts of the world. The Hall of Jade is also beautiful and houses items made from jade, crafted in China. This museum has something for everyone and offers a terrific day out for families and groups.

There are many things that cannot be learned through books. Life and all that is around us can be experienced, but not always understood. One great learning tool that falls in between those two is the natural history museum. This is something that all children should see at least once in their lives. Golden Gate Bridge

One of the most iconic images of the United States is the Golden Gate Bridge. This elegant span with the reddish color is probably the most photographed bridge in the world. It is an impressive site, whether shown at sunset, lit up at night or in the midst of swirling fog. Stretching over the San Francisco Bay, it is a magnet for tourists and there are other interesting attractions to visit, including forts and the Alcatraz Island Visitor Center. The former prison can be reached by ferry from Pier 41.

The bridge is part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, an ecological reserve and educational resource, containing 33 species, either threatened or endangered. The Crissy Field Center there runs programs for the local community and contains a workshop, laboratories and library.

The bridge began construction in 1933 and opened in 1937 at a cost of more than $26 million. At that time, it was the world's longest suspension bridge span and it is still the second longest in the USA. Celebrations for the opening continued for a week, starting with people walking or roller skating over the bridge before automobiles were allowed. The Golden Gate Bridge charges a toll and has six lanes and walkways at either side. The total length measures 8,981 feet (2,737 m). Some people voiced the opinion that the project was an impossible task but the bridge has won engineering awards and is an internationally known landmark.
